Couples looking for individual weddings Upwaltham Barns is the perfect venue
Intimate, authentic & full of country charm. Set in the most picturesque of locations; for unique Weddings Upwaltham Barns is simply stunning!
Nestled perfectly in the South Downs National park, a short drive from Petworth or Chichester Upwaltham Barns is set for another exciting year ahead. The owners Tim & Nicola hold their annual open day every year which attracts couples throughout the UK. I had fun chatting to couples from many European countries! Quite a turnout! the weather was fresh & the air was clean & rejuvenating.
I have been a preferred supplier at the barn since it started as a wedding venue. I guess I have grown as a photographer as I have made some of my favourite images there …
So what makes it so special I hear you ask? Well, Upwaltham Barns really is a family business. Everyone working as a team. Quite a unique formula that has seen them being recommended time & again by their couples & suppliers alike. The romantic Jasmine Cottage fully self contained & a small walk from your party when it gets late. Tastefully decorated & ideal for the bride & her bridesmaids to get ready before the ceremony itself. The layout of the barns really work too. The East barn with views of the South Downs can seat upto 150 Guests. It is light, airy but can also be very intimate with candles in the Winter months. The South Barn has a warm rustic feel. Large stone slabs on the floor & full of old oak beams. Both barns are adjacent to the courtyard which is perfect for drinks & canapes after the ceremony.
A smooth transition
This is where I think Upwaltham really shines. While one room is being used another is being turned around. This allows a seamless flow to your day and managed with precise timing from the Caterers Nibbles 2 Nosh. Sisters Kate & Claire are passionate about food. Speaking with couples before their wedding you can almost see them licking their lips at the mention of tastings at Nibbles 2 Nosh. For Weddings Upwaltham Barns is a foodie’s delight!
So what about the Open day itself? Well I know it attracted over 300 couples by about halfway through. I had the pleasure of setting up next to Matthew from Spriggs Florist in Petworth. A very creative guy and a regular at the barn. To my left was the talented Abby from Cherished. She provides highly original head pieces for brides looking for something with a vintage feel; stunning !
Dressed to impress!
Across from me was Jeremy Hart from Astares Mens formal hire in Chichester. Really sharp well fitting suits for the discerning Groom wanting to look the part too! Wedding dresses were supplied by the lovely Leonie Claire from the Montpelier region of central Brighton. WOW! I would love to photograph some of your brides Leonie; such original well picked designs ..
Cakes, cars & funny faces!
When it comes to wedding cakes believe me there is no one better that Gemma at Tartufi cakes. The new strawberry & champagne is an absolute winner, I know !! Outside were the vintage cars of Allenbylimousines Based in Fareham this chauffeur driven company offer a 1930’s style Beauford Convertible, a 1930’s style Branford a 1930’s style Asquith 8 seat bus to name but a few ! Talking of cars I could not resist jumping into a painted taxi supplied by Coco photo booths A very impressive 9 car photo booth company all with a quirky style of their own; I enjoyed myself !
Indeed the open day was very well attended by all different wedding suppliers. Talking with couples it was great to hear that the day had proved not only a lot of fun byt very useful too. Perhaps keep an eye open for next year at Upwaltham Barns, an event in the wedding calender not to be missed !
Just to finish here are a few more images I have made at Upwaltham, enjoy !
