The second of my Wasing Park weddings saw the marriage of Laura & David Cripps
Wasing Park weddings are all about character, style & charm. Furthermore set among splendid Berkshire Countryside, this was a place I was looking forward to return to. Only an hour’s drive from my house Wasing Park is a venue I am photographing more often. Gemma (the wedding coordinator) & her team are extremely professional making sure the day run’s smoothly in a relaxed manor. They made me feel welcome & we matched our timings perfectly.
So pleased my first wedding of the season was at this great venue full of interesting buildings & beautiful surroundings.
The Bride & Groom
In addition I was pleased to be photographing the splendid new, Mr & Mrs Cripps ! .. I got on very well with Laura & David from our first meeting & it was equally nice to meet their families & friends. Consequently a group of people I hope to photograph a lot in the coming years.
Both Laura & David are teachers therefore decided to get married in half term on a Monday. They both have impressive National sports history, David with Tennis & Laura in gymnastics. David proposed underneath a tree, hence, celebrating their love of nature & countryside. So it seemed especially relevant I make an engagement portrait for them (seen below) at Wasing Park … you guessed it… under a tree !
Finally the big day arrived. The sun shone on this fresh February day adding to the happiness clearly visible on all who attended. I started my coverage at David’s family home where he had lived since a child. The groomsmen & best man Adam all received cuff links as presents, superheroes in fact. As a father with a daughter of a certain age I could clearly see the pride Malcolm had for Laura. They shared a very special loving relationship. The ceremony was an intimate affair made ever poignant by this years winter sunshine streaming through the windows. A drinks reception & canapes followed allowing me to create candid & family photographs. Afterwards I took the couple off around the magnificent grounds. I created some special memories, naturally allowing them time for reflection & closeness together.
The wedding Breakfast & party!
The meal was delicious, I know as I had some ! the catering company Galloping Gourmet work closely with Wasing & you can see why. A steak cooked to perfection followed by a strawberry & vanilla panna cotta …. I love my job ! The speeches were heart felt & well received. Finally the evening reception was a party with a DJ recommend by the venue. Most noteworthy was a serious sound system & lighting rig, naturally adding to the fun atmosphere … The night had not long began & the caterers started up their mobile pizza oven …. We were going to have a slice but the ques were too long. Late night Marmite on toast & cup of tea for me ! In conclusion take a moment now to look at a small selection of images from the day …
Both myself & Francis had a blast & really enjoyed the wedding. Many thanks to Laura & David for a great day & chance to capture it for them. I wish them all the very best for the future & look forward to seeing them again soon…..
